4.Tournament Regulation
The tournament will be run in accordance with the FIDE Laws of Chess and will be FIDE Rapid rated for U14 and Open groups. The tournament is comprised of 7 rounds Swiss System using Swiss Manager software for pairings. FIDE rated groups will be seeded under the latest FIDE Rapid Rating List. In case of smaller number of players in each group not meeting the required number of rounds, age groups may be combined butprizes will be awarded separately.
5.Tie- breaks
Tie-breaks will be used to determine the Top 3 players after the final round, if required. The respective tie-break order will be:
1)Direct Encounter 2)Median Buchholz, 3)Buchholz 4)Number of wins 5)Most games as black
In case of totally equal tie-breaks: one game of blitz – 3min + 2sec will apply, if this ends in a draw then an Armageddon blitz shall apply (For example: White 5 min, Black 4 min, black wins if ends in a draw).
6.Age groups
U6, U8, U10, U12, U14 and Open Section.
Please note that age group players have to be under the age of the category they are playing in. For example: a player who wants to play in the Under 10, shall not have reached the age of 10 by 1st January, 2019 (born 2008 or later).
7.System of Play
7 rounds for all the groups with time control of 15 min+ 5 sec from move one.

9。Miscellaneous
1) Chief Arbiter’s decision will be final, no appeal is possible.
2) It is imperative that all players’ mobile phones are switched off at all times until the end of the last round. If a player’s mobile phone is found to be switched on during the games, the player will lose the respective game immediately. This includes mobile phones that are in flight mode or vibration mode.
3) If a game is found to be pre-arranged, a score of 0 will be given to both players.
4) If any form of cheating is found, the player will be expelled from the tournament.
5) Photo taking is allowed within the first 5 minutes of each round, in designated areas only.
6) For a player to obtain an initial FIDE rating in a Swiss tournament, a minimum of 5 games against rated opponents and scoring at least half point is needed. The rating will only be published if a player has obtained a rating of at least 1000. 10.Entry Fee and registration
1 ) U6-U14: NT$ 500
2 ) Open Section: NT$ 800
3 ) Parents or accompanying persons who would like to dine with players: NT$1000
Players’ entry fee is inclusive of dinner.
Please note: Due to limited venue capacity, the tournament is limited to 200 entries. It is recommended for players to complete the registration as early as possible. Registration is only complete once your payment has been acknowledged by the organiser.
Group registrations can be made via chess academy instructors (players are to make payments directly to the instructors).
Registration deadline for the Tournament is 24th March 2018 (Sunday).
